Add topic to favorites
I recently bought my domain name through wordpress.com. Unfortunately I didn’t realize I couldn’t use affiliate links or adsense with wp. Now I want to use my domain name elsewhere. How do I go about that?

1) Just to clarify about the issue on adsense and affliate links, they are allowed under certain conditions.

2) Change the nameservers to your new host and point the domain over there.

The current domain mapping offering does not have any way to allow you to point your domain elsewhere if you purchased it here. We will probably have this in the future, but the functionality is not there yet. If you do not want to use the domain for wordpress.com domain mapping, I would suggest initiating a transfer of the domain to another registrar that has a control panel that allows you to control the nameservers. If you just purchased it, you may have to wait a few weeks before you can transfer it.

Barry, are they defaulted to be locked down? I know my domains that I register with most registars default to being locked to prevent transfers without my permission. Do we have to do anything with wp.com to get them unlocked?
