  i cannot map my domain to google sites. i have no capability of verifying that i own my domain because there i have no html capability. this is extremely inconvenient for me and i am verging on leaving wordpress.

  Well, I’m not sure what Google Sites requires, but they have to offer more than that.

  Typically, they just want DNS modifications, and you have full control over that via your Custom DNS panel: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/

  If they just want you to leave some HTML on a page, try using a Text widget.
