Domain mapping

    Hello, I would like to know if I can apply a domain name I own to this wordpress site, and remain using wordpress instead of the site affiliated with the domain name? I wrongly assumed the domain name would be the website people search in their engine, and it would direct them to my wordpress blog. Thank you, and hopefully this is not confusing. Because this rookie is very confused!

    Hello,
    Yes, you can do that. There are two steps involved: 1) set up domain mapping on WordPress.com to point to your blog and 2) change the name servers at the registrar where you purchased the domain. Here’s the guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

    Once you’ve made the changes, it may take up to 72 hours for them to fully spread around the internet. During that time your domain name may become temporarily inaccessible.
