Domain Mapping
-
Hi there! I am having an issue. I have a Wix page – which my domain name just renewed a few days ago unfortunately. They said I can not change my domain over to WordPress for 60 days and I can not wait 60 days as I do business via my website and need it active constantly. I wanted to cancel my WordPress until I can switch over my domain once the 60 days is up. I had no idea what I was doing when I added my websites .com name onto the domain mapping. When I went to cancel it says I can not keep my domain name? I am very very confused – please help! Thank you!

Hi there,
I see that you were able to cancel your domain mapping successfully. However, we do not accept incoming domain transfers. So, once 60 days has passed, your only option at that point is to transfer the domain to a host like Bluehost and then update the nameservers to point over to WordPress.com. You will then want to map the domain over to WordPress.com as you had it:

Alternately, you don’t have to wait 60 days to have the domain work with WordPress.com. You can keep your domain registered at Wix and change the domain’s A records. However, please note that our IP addresses change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.
If you want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:
192.0.78.25
192.0.78.24
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
