Domain Mapping

I am trying to map http://www.tagup.org to wordpress.com. I made the domains listed on your site instructions.

Now when I access or try to go to my site’s homepage it doesn’t even load so i am unsure how to follow the rest of the instructions because I can’t get to the dashboard.
    Blog url: http://tagup.org/

  • I don’t see the nameservers for tagup.org pointing to WordPress.com. Can you check with your domain registrar that they are pointed as we detail here?

Once the nameservers are set the rest of those steps should work correctly.

according to this site i think my domain names are updated?

    http://www.intodns.com/tagup.org

I am very new to all this and am trying to get a grasp on the proper terms and process of what I have to do. Sorry for acting incompetent.

I contacted Hostgator and they claim that the servers have been updated as well.

    Any suggestions?

  • You haven’t mapped the domain here yet.

You’ll need to add it from Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.

I can’t get to that step because my website isn’t loading, I get a “Server Not Found”. Can I access the Dashboard any other way? The way I used to do it was by going on my site and logging in as the admin. Then many wordpress features were available and in the upper left hand portion on my screen i could click on the dashboard and other options.

With the site not loading at all, nothing pops up. Is there an alternative way to get to the dashboard? Any clue why all of sudden my site won’t load online?

  • You need to specifically access your WordPress.com blog’s Dashboard https://tagupdotorg.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ (assuming that’s the blog you want to map the domain to).

I’m really confused here. My goal was to get a theme (the MLB baseball theme). Supposedly that is only supported on wordpress.com, not wordpress.org (which is what I used with my site tagup.org hosted by hostgator).

I tried remapping so that site’s domain (dunno if that is correct terminology) was on wordpress.com so i could eventually pay a few fee’s to get my site on wordpress.com with the MLB theme.

After I remapped the site, it stopped working all together.

The link listed above to a blog is not my blog, I have had one with articles from the past two years and am trying to convert that site (hosted by hostgator, tagup.org) on to wordpress.com so I can use the MLB theme.

Thanks for all the help, I am in over my head here because I don’t even technically understand EXACTLY what this process is, just the premise of it. Sorry but I hope I provided enough information that you can help. Thanks for all the support and help already!

  • Ok, then you’ll need to access the Store -> Domains section of the WordPress.com blog that you want to map tagup.org to in order to use it with your WordPress.com blog (and MLB theme).
