Domain mapping

I already own a domain name, and would like to sync it with my wordpress site. What are my options for doing this without going for the premium plan?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can definitely map your own domain to your site without upgrading if you don’t want to! If you’re on the free plan, there’s a $13/year fee on it, but that’ll only come out to $1.09/month instead of the $8.25/month for fully upgrading to premium.
All you need to do is go to ‘Plan’ at the top of your My Site sidebar, then choose the Domains tab and then ‘Add Domain’ and you’ll find the options for mapping existing domains there too. More detail here:

Hi, thanks for your reply. I tried what you suggested, going via ‘Plan’ then adding a custom demain, but it simply directed me again to the premium plan at a cost of £85 a year.

Hmm, that’s odd. I tried going through it myself as far as I could without actually pulling the trigger, and it didn’t have a problem. Maybe it’s a regional thing, since I’m in the US? I don’t know if they have different requirements for different regions, but none of the documentation I found said anything along those lines.
Here, I made a recording of myself going through it – take a look and let me know where yours goes differently, or if it’s the same for you up to where I stopped but the issue comes up after that:
