Domain mapping

  Hi, I already own my domain and while mapping it to wordpress it directs me to payment options? Is there a charge to map my existing domain name? and 99$ for it? why?

  You can no longer register or map a domain individually with WordPress.com. Moving forward, domain subscriptions can be purchased as a part of one of our many plans here. This recent domains with plans only update was made as we continue to work diligently to provide the best WordPress.com experience for both users who choose to purchase a plan as well as those who choose the free plan.

  If you look over the plans that we offer and do not think they are the best fit, purchasing and setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site through reliable hosts such as Flywheel, Siteground, Pressable, and Bluehost are also a great options.
