Domain mapping $13

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there

I bought domain mapping for $13 for my London Vocal Coaching (VoiceCity) site and then deleted the old site in error! I set up the new site I’m now using and tried to transfer the domain mapping to this so as not waste the $13 fee but the transfer didn’t work, so I had to buy ANOTHER domain mapping service. The second service bought now works perfectly, but I have paid $13 twice! Please can you let me know how to get a refund for £13 as I don’t require two domain mapping services for one site. The only option I have is to “transfer to another site”.

Please do not change any settings on my site, thanks.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there – I’d be glad to help with this. This is what I see on your account:

    Domain mapped: voicecity.co.uk
    2013-04-09 16:15:37 $13.00

    Site Redirect for http://vocalcoachinglondon.wordpress.com
    2013-04-08 21:55:08 $13.00

    Domain mapped: hannahnorthedge.co.uk
    2013-04-04 07:25:56 $13.00

Could you please confirm which upgrade you want cancelled and refunded, and I’ll be glad to take care of it. Thanks!

I’d like the refund on the Site Redirect on the site below that is the second option down in orange and reads:

    “Site Redirect:
    Learn More
    Status: Active, Manual Renewal
This upgrade will expire in 11 months on April 8, 2014
    Transfer to another site
    Enable Auto Renew
    $13.00
    USD per year
    $0.04 per day”

    On this link:

    Thanks.

  • I’ve cancelled this upgrade and issued a refund. It can take 1-2 weeks for the refund to be reflected on your account.

Just let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks very much. It was definitely the one that read Site Redirect in orange that you cancelled wasn’t it?!

    Thank you for your help.

    Hannah

  • Yes, that was the one. If you visit this link again (or refresh it if you still have the page open) you should no longer see that site redirect, only the mapped domain.

Just let me know if you have any trouble with it.

    Thanks very much.

Coud you possibly help me with something else.

I want to change the colour of the following texts:
    Menu
    Drop down menu
    Page titles

At the minute it is the colour pale grey and very dfficult to read.

    Can you advise anything please?

    Thanks.

  • You could change those colours with the Custom Design upgrade, which would allow you to edit the theme’s CSS code.

Once you have the upgrade active, you can get help with the specific code in our CSS Customization forum.

    Ok, I’ll do that.

Where do I access the CSS code in the Dashboard of my site?

  • It would be under Appearance > Custom Design > CSS.

I see. That comes as part of the $30 colour change bundle then?
I’ve been looking at how to access CSS on my site for a while and now I know!

I know I only asked you one question originally, but are you able to tell me whether SEO is better on a wordpress.com or wordpress.org site or doesn’t it matter?

Also, I cannot seem to align text and links on certain pages such as this page on my site:
    http://voicecity.co.uk/rates/

Even when I change things in the visual / text in dashboard it never looks the same as when I view the page and everything is out of alignment everytime!

    Any advice?

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi there
I have bought the Custom Design upgrade for $30 but I don’t know how to alter the colour of the drop down options from the some of the menu titles and also the page name colour. I would like these to be black. How do I do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,

Kathryn is out today but I wanted to make sure that someone got back to you!

In answer to some of your questions, the easiest way to change the colors of most items is to just go in to the Customizer which is in the Dashboard >> Appearance >> Customize >> Colors. It will allow you to change a good portion of the colors on your site.

If you’d like to fine tune the colors, you’ll need to use CSS code to modify them, and for that I actually recommend that you get familiar with the CSS Forum so that you can talk with others who are modifying their site via CSS. They will help you out with pretty much anything you’re looking to do!

You can find it right here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

As far as SEO goes, it depends on how you use it. WordPress.org by default has almost no SEO in place, but it has a lot of plugins you can use. WordPress.com on the other hand has a huge amount of SEO that we take care of for you, however there isn’t much that you can modify.
