Domain Mapping

I recently purchased the business plan and discovered to use a custom theme you had to have self hosting. So I cancelled my business plan and I signed up with bluehost, installed wordpress, and even deleted the original static site I had on wordpress.com previously. Now every time I try to log in to my dashboard it takes me to a screen that says ‘Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.’ I’ve troubleshooted with bluehost support all afternoon, I’ve cleared my caches multiple times, and it still shows up that way. I can’t access my dashboard at all through bluehost. Can you help me with this?

    Hi!

This is the wordpress.com forum. I understand that you’re using wordpress.org, right? You can get help at the wordpress.org forums (https://wordpress.org/support/). Just post this topic there and I’m sure they’ll give you great help :)

No – You may get multiples from me I apologize! Having internet trouble on my side. I signed up with wordpress.com – and when I tried to transfer it to self hosting and wordpress.org – it keeps prompting me to login to my wordpress.com account and gives me the “warning message” I listed above. It’s something to do with my domain mapping – I found the answer on wordpress.org, but I have already deleted the wprdpress.com site and it’s contents thinking that would help, so I just basically have an empty account now and can’t fix my domain mapping.

Oh, I see. Then, I’ll call the staff’s attention to this post, ok? Just be patient and they’ll answer you as soon as possible!

That would be fantastic – thank you so much! It also could be my end, we’ve been having internet issues, and it could just still be updating. I’m not totally sure though. Appreciate all your assistance and quick response!

  • Hi there,

Your domain is pointing to Bluehost now, and it loads a Bluehost landing page for me, so the domain is definitely not pointing at us any more.

But your computer or your browser might still think it does. Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if that helps:

    Browser Issues

If it doesn’t, you’ll need to flush your computer’s DNS cache. The instructions for that differs based on whether you’re using Windows, Mac or Linux, and it differs from one version to the next, so you’ll need to search on Google for the instructions for your specific operating system.

Hello – just wanted to let you know everything is working now. I think it was a mixture of the cache, and something with our internal dns. I appreciate all the help offered and the timely responses – you guys are great!

    Thanks!

  • I’m glad to hear that. Thanks for letting me know :)
