Sorry I know very little about this wordpress and website building world. A few questions. Thanks kindly.
(1) If I upgrade, Can I use the free domain with wordpress.com AND separate domain mapping? (2) Can I use the separate domain as my PRIMARY and the one that wordpress.com gives for free, as another one that is linked to my blog site? (3) Does the free domain wordpress.com gives, one that is private with my personal information?

Hello there! When you buy a custom domain through WordPressdotcom, it is set as your Primary domain and mapped to your free wordpress.com domain. So anyone typing in your wordpress.com address will be routed to your custom domain.
There is no personal information made public when you use the free wordpress.com domain. However, when you buy a custom domain, you are required by law to give your contact details, but can purchase domain Privacy for a small extra fee. This keeps your personal information out of public view when someone searches for your custom domain in a WHOIS search.
