domain mapping
-
Hi, I just started wordpress, I started and canceled the domain mapping for elbonsteel.wordpress.com. I wanted the site to just be elbonsteel.com- my google domain. I canceled because I realized that I could forward my google domain wordpress site. I just want to make sure that the wordpress is ready to go and will work with the domain. There are still redirects when I want to look at my wordpress site. Do I need to update anything on wordpress so that it will be compatible with Google domains?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I think you’re saying that you followed this domain mapping guide to map the elbonsteel.com domain to elbonsteel.wordpress.com but later you decided to cancel it and provide a redirect.
If you wish to stick to redirect, you can do so. And you won’t need to change anything on your site for the redirect to be compatible.
Just note that, the redirect will not show your original domain in the address bar. With a redirect, when visitors go to elbonsteel.com, they will be sent to elbonsteel.wordpress.com and they will see elbonsteel.wordpress.com in the address bar.
I hope this helps :)

Ah, I messed up then. I want to use the wordpress site, but just have it as elbonsteel.com. Should I reverse my cancellation, or is there another way to match my domain to wordpress?

Ah! In that case you need to map the domain again. That’s the only way to map a domain registered elsewhere. More info here –
