Domain Mapping
-
Hi. I just changed my domain name on the blog. I am trying to figure out how to map the new one but it keeps trying to recharge me $99 to do it. How do I do this without being charged again? I had this working already with my other site and am just wanted to map this one instead now. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What is the new domain that you are wanting to map?
I’ll check and see what I can do on this end. Thanks!
-

It’s still saying my domain needs to be mapped, which involves upgrading to the Premium package, which I have already paid. Please update as I need to get the site back up and running ASAP. Thanks

Hi there,
I was able to map one16ministries.com for you. You’ll still need to do a few things:
1) Purchase the subscription here by renewing:
https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades2) If you haven’t done so already, point the domain to our name servers:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.com3) After giving that a few hours to take effect, set the domain as primary under https://wordpress.com/my-domains
Let us know if you need more help!

Similar sort of topic and wonder if you can help me out, I currently have taken control of a website which has been up and running for over 10 years or so. I have developed a new one with wordpress.com but I am looking to remove old site from exisiting domain name and have the shiny new wordpress site with the existing domain.
how do I go about that? can I redirect it or can I just purchase the personal plan and set my wordpress site to my custom domain?
by the way I don’t have access to the host provider details!!
thanks

Hi there,
In order to use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them over to WordPress.com. Our nameservers are:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMThen, you’ll need to purchase the mapping subscription upgrade so that you can map your domain over to your WordPress.com site.
For instructions on both processes, please visit our support page:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
You don’t have host provider details, can you get the login credentials to that host?
You’ll need to access the account in order to point the nameservers over to your WordPress.com site.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Thanks Darnell
so the only way I can go is purchase the mapping upgrade??
if I purchase the Personal upgrade plan can I not point my wordpress site to my existing domain?
why when I choose to select this option is says £11 per year but when I enter my domain name it jumps to £85 per year???
thanks

It’s still trying to make me pay for a subscription. I have already done this with truthinfocus.net. So, I should only be paying $13 for the mapping of one16ministries.com Can you please explain why I need to do this and pay again? 1) Purchase the subscription here by renewing: https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades
-
OK. I think I got it. This time it let me remove all the things it automatically added to my cart and only keep the mapping for $13. It wouldn’t let me do that last time. It seems to have done what I needed. Can you please check my account and confirm for me? Thank you.
-
Well, in going back into the account to check it, it’s still saying it expires in one day. What is going on?
-
-
It’s showing what I purchased as a $13 redirect. Is this not the same as the site mapping for $13? My site has been down for several days now and it is getting very frustrating having to wait for someone to respond. Is there a number I can call to get this straightened out? I’m just going to have to find another blog site to use if we can’t get this resolved today.
-
Nevermind. I canceled the redirect and am going to find another site to use instead of WordPress. Thanks
-
And btw: Here’s the message I am getting on my website now:
one16ministries.com expires in less than 7 days! Uh oh!
The domain one16ministries.com will expire on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Visitors to one16ministries.com will not see “One16Ministries.com”.To keep your domain, it has to be renewed yearly. Renewing expired domains becomes more costly and complicated as time goes by. Renew this domain now before it’s too late.
Renew now
for one more year
To address this issue, renew your domain, or cancel and remove it from your site. Renewing will ensure your ownership of this domain for another year. Canceling will immediately remove the domain from your site, and it will eventually be available for public registration again. Only cancel this domain if you are sure you will never need it in the future.I bought this domain from godaddy.com. So, why am I receiving this message????
-
so the only way I can go is purchase the mapping upgrade??
That is correct – purchasing a plan that includes the mapping upgrade
if I purchase the Personal upgrade plan can I not point my wordpress site to my existing domain?
Correct you can map your existing domain to your WordPress.com site.
why when I choose to select this option is says £11 per year but when I enter my domain name it jumps to £85 per year???
You should be able to go here to change the plan to the personal plan. Let me know if that doesn’t work. Thanks!

@one16ministries,
I went ahead and renewed the domain for you and sent a manual payment in order to avoid the issues that were occurring. However, please avoid the payment if you no longer want the domain. Let me know – thanks!
-
That’s exactly what I needed. Thank you. I also need for you to send another payment request exactly like it for mapping for truthinfocusnews.com so that I can get it done also. Thank you
-
Also, when I made that payment, it automatically saved my credit card information to the account. I do not want my credit card information in that account so how do I remove it?
-
No problem! I also reactivated truthinfocusnew.com, but I connected it to truthinfocusnewssite.wordpress.com. Is that where you wanted it mapped to? Let me know. Thanks!
