Domain Mapping
-
How to map a custom domain that I own to my WordPress site (dynamaniacsyyc.wordpress.com). I have another WordPress site and I’m able to do this for I think $17 a year, but the only option I’m given now is the premium option for $129.

so there is no longer a way to map an existing Domain name to a wordpress site unless you pay $129 a year??

You can select a Personal plan and then enter the domain URL. Domains are included with the WordPress.com Personal, Premium, or Business plans. Please see https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Please go to https://wordpress.com/pricing/ to upgrade.

You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.

okay that helps, but I already have the Domain. is there a discount since I don’t need the “free” one that comes with the personal plan

Hi there,
is there a discount since I don’t need the “free” one that comes with the personal plan
The Personal plan includes a domain credit which can be used to map a domain you already own or register a new one.
Add the Personal plan to your cart first. If you had domain mapping first, the Premium plan will be selected automatically.
I have another WordPress site and I’m able to do this for I think $17 a year
It was previously possible to add a domain mapping as a stand-alone upgrade, but that was changed last year. It is now only possible to add domain mapping as part of a plan.
Come back to me if you have any questions.
