Domain Mapping
-
I just activated the premium plan on wordpress.com, I have my website (domain) currently hosted through another service provider.
What I need to know is, will I still pay my current service provider for hosting services (webspace etc.) or will it fall under the wordpress plan after I map my domain? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you’ll need to maintain your domain registration with your current registrar. Otherwise, once you successfully transfer your site to WordPressdotcom and map your domain here, you won’t need to keep paying for website hosting elsewhere. All upgrade plans are paid annually on WordPressdotcom.
If you are using email on your domain, you’ll need to set that up separately as WordPressdotcom does not host email services.
Let us know if you have any other question about this.

Also, if you have purchased any upgrade plan under this username, you should be able to access direct support from Staff via the contact form in your dashboard. You might need to log out, clear your cache and cookies (which will also log you out of any other site you are logged into) and then log back in.

Thanks for your response.
Since website administration goes hand in hand with communication with users etc..
Does setting up e-mails mean extra costs, assuming I transfer the domain to be hosted/included in the wordpress plan? -

If you are using email hosting services for your domain then yes, you will have to pay for that to your email hosting provider.
