domain mapping

I need to contact support staff regarding domain mapping. I am unsure how to email them as this site has changed quite a bit since I last visited. I can’t see ot locate the link to contact staff. Any help in how to contact them would be appreciate.

    Thanks.

Volunteers in the forum can almost certainly answer your question. For contacting staff, weekends are not good for obvious reasons, but I will flag this for their attention.

    Hi, thanks for your response.

I had my blog here and it was mapped to http://fruitoftheword.com. About a year ago, I self-hosted. The blog URL without the domain mapping is “tishrei.wordpress.com.” Even though my domain mapping here at wordpress.com expired yesterday, when I type “tishrei.wordpress.com” it still maps to my self-hosted blog of “http://fruitoftheword.com.” What I want to know is should I continue to pay for the domain mapping or is it a moot point after this length of time. I don’t mind renewing if it is necessary. If I don’t what happens to “http://tishrei.wordpress.com” — will I have two blogs with the same posts albeit the “tishrei.wordpress.com” will only have posts up until I self-hosted.

Your subscription to Domain Mapping (fruitoftheword.com) has expired or is about to expire.
Fruit of the Word ‘Domain Mapping (fruitoftheword.com)’ expired on August 10, 2012 Renew now

I posted here instead of wordpress.org because I would need to renew the mapping here at wordpress.com.

    Again, thanks for your response.

I looked again and could not find a link to staff contact. Is that no longer available?

Since no volunteer one answered this post, I assume it’s a question that only staff can help me with.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,
This thread is flagged for Staff attention. It’s the weekend so please be patient while waiting for their response.

Thank you for your quick response.

I actually understood that this thread was flagged for staff attention. I was just asking again because Raincoaster had stated that volunteers almost certainly could answer my question regarding domain mapping. I brought it back up as I thought it may have got lost in the shuffle. I guess this is one of those questions that can’t be answered by volunteers.

I will wait for staff to get to this tomorrow.

    Thanks.

Since your name servers no longer point to WordPress.COM the domain mapping is not doing any good – don’t renew it

Did you move (export / import) your content from your tishrei.wordpress.com to fruitoftheword.com?

If you did not move the content you should either do a last Post “I have moved to” with a click on link in case any traffic shows up on your tishrei.wordpress.com site to send it to your new site.

If you moved the content from tishrei.wordpress.com to fruitoftheword.com then you could domain forward to fruitoftheword.com from tishrei.wordpress.com.

    Hi,

Yes I exported the content when I self-hosted back in October of 2011. That’s not a problem. The “tishrei.wordpress.com” site is still pointing to “fruitoftheword.com” so the domain mapping is still in effect. If I type in my browser “tishrei.wordpress.com” it sends me to my self-hosted blog. I’m assuming that there’s a grace period.

If you moved the content from tishrei.wordpress.com to fruitoftheword.com then you could domain forward to fruitoftheword.com from tishrei.wordpress.com.

When I started blogging, I started off with “tishrei.wordpress.com” but that was for a short period of time. I eventually purchased the domain name “fruitoftheword.com.” That domain was mapped here at wordpress.com until I decided to self-host back in October of 2011. So all I did was take my domain name that was hosted here and moved it to a self-hosting blog.

If it’s not necessary to renew, then I won’t and when the grace period is over, I’ll do a post with a moved to “fruitoftheword” in case any traffic shows up.

I have a couple of blogs here at wordpress.com and in my dashboard, I get the notice re the domain mapping to my fruitoftheword expiration. That’s why I’m asking if I need to do anything or just let it lapse.

What I’m not understanding is since the name server points to where I have it hosted (GoDaddy), how come when I type “tishrie.wordpres.com” sends it to my self-hosted blog. That’s why I am wondering if I need to do anything here at WordPress.com.

Thank you very much for your response.

  • I have removed the expired domain mapping upgrade, so you don’t have to wait for it lapse.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Thank you. I guess this takes care of everything. It’s still pointing to my self-hosted blog so it appears that all is well with the mapping.
