Domain mapping?

I have a domain through godaddy but when I am trying to add it to my wordpress domain list it’s trying to upgrade me to the highest tier plan, which I can’t afford right now. Is there a way to use my own domain for free, or cheaper than 99/ year?

Yes. You can purchase the personal plan. You must purchase an upgraded plan to have a custom domain URL.

You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.
