Domain Mapping

Hi there! I have bought a domain name on GoDaddy and have just discovered I need to upgrade this account to map this domain name to our wordpress account. Can this upgrade be to a personal account? Or does it have to be premium?

A personal plan will work!
From there you will need to map your existing domain to your WordPress.com site.

Please keep in mind, it can sometimes take up to 72 hours for a domain to fully propagate.

Thanks so much for your help! Will the domain mapping part cost any extra? And will this have to be done through GoDaddy or wordpress?

You are welcome! Happy to help.
The domain mapping will be included in the personal plan. You have the choice between purchasing a domain through WordPress.com or mapping an existing. Since you already own the domain you will choose the later.
You will then need to update the DNS records within your GoDaddy account. Here is a helpful guide on how to do that:

You will need to add the WordPress.com name servers which are as follows:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

To clarify, you will purchase the upgraded plan through WordPress.com and then select domain mapping here: Configure -> Domains -> Add Domain -> Already own a domain?
Once that has been completed you will set the name servers within GoDaddy.
Once again, it can sometimes take up to 72 hours for these changes to be fully reflected.
