Hi we have our own domain called
    ubvillagefest.org.au
and for some reason, it isn’t linked any longer and the website is not showing up in google. I don’t believe we have had to pay for this in the past, as this is a community run event. Can you pls recectify? thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

That domain used to be connected to your site via a domain mapping upgrade owned by the user, mcathie. That upgrade was originally purchased in 2014, and have been renewed by mcathie every year up until now.

The last renewal went through on 20 December, but was removed after the payment for that renewal was disputed with credit card company or bank that issued the card we charged for the renewal.

To map the domain again, mcathie will need to contact us to arrange for payment again so we can add the domain back.

Another admin on the site can also add a new domain mapping upgrade, but that will require a paid plan as we no longer sell domain mapping upgrades independently of a plan. I can still restore the stand-alone upgrade to the original owner’s account, but any other user on the site will need to buy a plan to add the upgrade as a new upgrade.

    Hi there
Mcathie use to help on our committee but hasn’t been on the committee for 3 years and I have been looking after the website.
I paid an amount today $27 chargeback today. Is that what you mean?
We need it reinstated as the festival is less than 6 weeks away.
I’m happy to pay and have our committee reimburse me.
Pls advise what I need to do to get rectified ASAP?
    Thanks
    Michelle

When someone disputes a charge, we are fined by our payment provider. That is the chargeback fee that you paid, yes. So it would appear the previous owner disputed the charge rather than contacting us to have it refunded or transferred to the correct account.

If you still have contact with that person and they’re willing to cancel the dispute (provided it’s still possible), we might be able to refund them directly and possibly refund the chargeback fee as well to you. Then we can restore the mapping upgrade to their account, and they can then transfer the site and upgrades to you which will allow you to renew it going forward.

Otherwise, please go to My Site ->Plans and purchase one of our paid plans. All plans include one free domain mapping, so once you’ve purchased the plan you can add the domain again by going to My Site ->Domains ->Add and selecting the “Use a domain I already own” option.

However, you should be aware that in this second case the site itself will still belong to the other user and they will still have access to it, and be able to make changes to it, including the ability to delete it completely. Long term the best solution is really if the current owner can completely transfer ownership of the site to someone who is still involved with your organisation.

    Ok I will ask them.
How do they cancel the dispute?
    Through you or the bank?

  • They’ll need to contact their bank as that’s where they filed the dispute against us, effectively accusing us of fraudulently charging their card when we processed the upgrade renewal.
