  If a domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet, how long before it is !?

  Hi

  After a domain expires and is not renewed by the owner, it takes a lot of time to be available for purchase again in the market.

  Hi, sorry, what I wish to do is add a domain name that I own, which I want to map the domain without moving from my current registrar. When I try to do this the reply is ‘This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet’

  Hi there,

  what I wish to do is add a domain name that I own, which I want to map the domain without moving from my current registrar.

  If you already own a domain, you can still use it on your WordPress.com site by visiting your Domain page. Here is the support document for the same.

  After adding a domain using your Domain page, you have to contact your registrar and ask them to change the name servers to WordPress.com name servers as explained here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  You can also transfer your domain to WordPress.com. See this support document for more details on domain transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  Well, do you own this domain? If yes, then how old is it?

  I am trying to add the domain name using the domain page, but I keep getting the reply ‘This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet, please try again later or contact Support ‘
  This reply keeps coming up every time I have tried – which is since yesterday evening.
  Do you think that this reply is because I don’t have an upgraded WordPress plan?

  Or if you prefer to keep your domain and site at different providers, you also have the option to “map” your existing domain to your site. You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain, or either transfer or map one you already own.
