  I’m trying to buy the 17$ domain mapping option, but it seems that I’m forced to get a premium plan for 120$ ? is this normal ?

  The Domain Mapping option is no longer available as a standalone purchase. If you wish to map your domain to WordPress.com site, you will require an upgraded plan. For more information on this please refer to the following document: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Each paid plans come with a free credit that allows you to either register a new domain or transfer/map your existing domain.
