This thread is flagged for Staff attention and you will have to be patient while waiting as it’s the weekend.

P.S. Did you follow through the whole process?
To set the primary domain for your blog, navigate to Store -> Domains in your admin sidebar, select the radio button beside the domain you wish to set as primary, and then click the “Update Primary Domain” button at the bottom of the list to save the change. The change should occur immediately, though for very recently purchased domain names, there is sometimes a delay of a few hours between the purchase of the domain and its availability.

Yes, followed all the instructions, and when I updated the primary domain, my wordpress blog disappeared and came up as my web site. I wanted people that go to brendacooper.com to see my wordpress blog, but now when people go to my wordpress blog they see the old web site instead.

I am thinking of just restoring the normal brendacooperdotcom.wordpress.com to it’s normal state and using a redirect in html from brendacooper.com

The nameservers for brendacooper.com are not directed to us. Per the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ they need to be:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM NS2.WORDPRESS.COM NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
