Domain Mapping

    Hi! If I add my domain, will it deactivate my current website? I don’t want to deactivate my current website until I have completed my WordPress website.

    Hi lotoftees,

    Mapping an existing domain to WordPress.com means the current site no longer loads at that address — but it won’t delete the site itself. Your host may assign a temporary domain but I recommend speaking to them about what would happen in that instance.

    Are you looking to create a new site on WordPress.com and use the domain here? If so, you can start off by creating a site using a free address, adding content, choosing a theme etc. Then map the domain to WordPress.com when you are ready to make the switch.
