  after 60 days I am able to transfer my domain to wordpress from mailchimp. will that get rid of the domain.wordpress.com ?

  Hi –

  Yes, whenever a custom domain is connected the free site address goes away. Viewers only see your custom domain in their browsers or through search engines.

  You don’t need to wait 60 days though if you want to get started the domain can get connected at any point with the mapping option. See here:
