    Hi There,

Can we have the site url you need help on ?

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

    Are you speaking of one4allspace.wordpress.com/one4allspace.wpcomstaging.local?

Mapping a domain to a WordPress.com site requires a paid plan, and you cancelled the Business Plan you used to have on that site already in December 2018.

We can help you restore the Business Plan to that site manually, then you’ll be able to map your domain.

Else we can revert that site to the free plan, which would enable you to upgrade to one of our less expensive plans. Please note that if we revert the site, there is a risk that any content you added to it since first installing plugins in 2018 might be lost, so we’ll need your specific confirmation if you want to go this route.

Please let us know how you would like to proceed.

    Hi @adarshhalan,

    Thanks for attending/asking!

    Much appreciated!

    Hi @kokkieh,

Yes that’s the site I am talking about. Yes I cancelled that business plan and currently have the site pointed to Inmotion shared reseller hosting plan. So I am alright with the plugins and stuff I guess.

I am guessing upgrading to your basic plan would be sufficient to continue using the site name right?

I guess the inmotion hosting backup will also be sufficient to keep my site intact (from losing content and plugins)?

If what I am guessing is correct then would you please upgrade to a basic plan for me? And please would you let me know the cost of this upgrade?

    Thanks and regards,

    Ofas

  • Hi Ofas,

let me just make sure I understand what you’re trying to do here.
Is your idea to use the domain one4allspace.wordpress.com with a site that is hosted on Inmotion?
Or is it the domain one4allspace.wpcomstaging.local that you would like to keep and point to that other site?

I am asking this because, depending on what you want to do, you may not need a paid plan here, on WordPress.com.
A paid plan would be needed to keep using your WordPress.com site with the domain one4allspace.wpcomstaging.local mapped to it.

If you want to simply redirect traffic from one4allspace.wordpress.com to your new site, then you would rather need Site Redirect:

    https://wordpress.com/support/site-redirect/

Let us know how you’d like to proceed.

    Hi Fresatomica,

Thanks, I just would like to keep the domain name. When I saw that email saying “Domain Mapping for one4allspace.wpcomstaging.local is about to expire” I didn’t understand what it was about.

Now I checked my domain registry. It is registered until 2022 (I guess with wordpress) and it is pointed to inmotion and I built the site using inmotion. So I guess everything would go as normal without doing anything now?

Sorry, either I am confused or I am confusing you all now!!!

So to simply put, I would like to use the domain name one4allspace.com. I don’t want to loose that name.

    Thanks anyway :)

  • one4allspace.com is not registered with us. It used to be, but it looks like you transferred it away from us to InMotion in January last year, so they now control the domain registration.

The email you received is for a mapping upgrade for that domain that was still on our system, but that expiring has no effect on your domain itself, so you can just ignore that – you don’t need to pay us for anything regarding the site you currently have at that domain.
