domain mapping

I wish i knew you guys offered domain names as well.. I bought one from godaddy, and it says i need to wait 2 months to port it over since its new. It also says I can domain map for free (with my account) but it makes me pay 96 to continue.. how do I make this happen?? I bought a website and I want to point it to my wordpress please help.

An upgraded plan is required to map a domain purchased elsewhere to a WordPress.com site, but a Personal plan would work:

Meaning I dont need an upgraded plan to map a domain purchased elsewhere?
As mentioned i made the mistake of buying a domain at godaddy because i did not know your site offered domains. now im stuck there wonder HOW I CAN DO THIS and your comment is confusing af.

but a personal plan will work? so it’s not required or required??

A Personal plan would allow you to map your domain. A free plan wouldn’t:

The personal plan is an upgraded plan. It’s the first upgrade level above free.
You can map a domain registered elsewhere on any of the paid plan, including Personal.
