  If I choose to map my domain without moving it from my current registrar, will my company’s website be down until I transfer the finished wordpress.com domain?

  Yes. To be clear, do you want to move your site from wherever it is now to here at WordPress.com? As you were told by staff in your previous thread you can build a free site here, transfer content from your existing site to the free site here and then map the domain last of all by purchasing a paid plan here.
