  Can someone explain in black and white how to go about this topic: this is my first time to become a blogger.

  Sure thing. Mapping means you bought the domain with another provider. You’ll keep renewing through that provider, while pointing the domain (or a subdomain) here.

  First, choose a plan here (required if you want to make the domain primary) :
  https://wordpress.com/plans

  Next choose to map the domain: https://wordpress.com/domains

  Then point your domain to these name servers:
  ns1.wordpress.com
  ns2.wordpress.com
  ns3.wordpress.com
