Domain Mapping
-
My boss already purchased a domain from OVH and would like to map it to set up the company’s new website. He sees that he has to select one of the premium plans to do this, but first he would like to make sure that this process will work. Just checking if WordPress will accept a domain from OVH and if anyone has had experience with mapping from OVH to WordPress?
Thanks. -
Yes, you can map any domain to your WordPress.com site following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

Thanks so much for your response! I was also wondering if we map the domain to our WordPress site, will our email addresses created at the domain still work? And will we be able to create other email addresses with that domain name?

Hi there,
Yes it will work, but you there are domain settings (that control email delivery) which OVH as set on their end. When you map your domain to a WordPress.com site you need to copy those email settings over to this end, where they can be added in our domains manager. This will allow you to send website traffic to the WordPress.com site, while still maintaining email delivery with OVH.
What I recommend is upgrading to any of our plans here, they all include domain mapping, as well as private priority support (instead of public support here in our forums) and we can collect info about the domain you plan to map, and help get email settings set up for you so the connection is seamless.
Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot! Yes that helps! We are planning to upgrade to the business plan. Sorry to bother you again, I have one last question. Can multiple people access the same WordPress site to edit and work on the site?

Yes, you can add as many users as you’d like to your site: https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#adding-users-to-your-site
