Domain mapping
-
Hi, I am a bit confused. I had this blog many years ago with wordpress.com After a while I moved to wordpress.org where I have my current website with exactly the same domain name.
*If it is relevant I rent the domain form bt.com in the uk.
I have just received a reminder that ‘The domain mapping… will renew automatically in 30 days’. I’m not sure what I did all those years ago that I now seem to have a .org site and a .com site under the same domain name. I don’t need the .com anymore and am surprised it still exists. Do I need this mapping , and can I safely cancel the auto renew without upsetting my functioning wordpress.org site. I would really appreciate any help – I’ve never really got the hang of this! Thank youWP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No

Hi there,
Since you’ve moved your website to WordPress.org and are using the same domain there, the Domain Connection upgrade from us is no longer necessary for your current website’s operation.
You can safely cancel the Domain Connection upgrade on your WordPress.com account without affecting your WordPress.org site. Your domain’s connection to your current site is managed through your domain registrar, not through WordPress.com.
I hope this clarifies things for you. If there’s anything else you need assistance with, don’t hesitate to reach out.
