Domain mapping

Hello everyone. I am having a little trouble tonight with domain mapping. I followed the WordPress directions to set my domain from refusetobefree.wordpress.com to simply refusetobefree.com. I succeeded in doing this. I set refusetobefree.com (which I have from Optimum online’s web hosting) as the primary domain and then attempted accessing the site. Yet, when I went on the site it prompted me with notice that it’s still under construction. I was wondering why this was and how I can fix it? I am sure this is just an example of my web ignorance, but, I would really appreciate help. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You may have to change the nameservers over at OptimumOnline. I’m afraid I’m not terribly experienced with the procedure, but you do have to change something on their end.

Thanks. I did do that and had it working for a few days. I thought I had figured it out. But, today, it just miraculously went back to the Under Construction prompt when I go on refusetobefree.com. Just plain weird.

Are you trying to set up a self hosted site refusetobefree.com on Optimum or map the refusetobefree.com to your existing WordPress.com site, http://refusetobefree.wordpress.com/ ?

If you are setting your http://refusetobefree.wordpress.com/ to use the refusetobefree.com name then I think you need to change some settings at Optimum on the registration to point to the name servers at WordPress.com, then there is a small wait for things to percolate across the internet. I think you have two steps to do, but the instructions always leave me a bit confused when I think about them.

    good luck
