Domain mapping

  I want to know why domain mapping is necessary in my case. It cost $13 a year and then renewing the domain is $5 a year. If all I do is pay the $5 per year, what happens? I guess my question is what is domain mapping and do I need to pay for it in my case?

  Hi there,

  Your domain is registered through us and mapping is automatically included in the domain registration. Please note that domain registration is not $5- the $13 is differentiated only for domains that are registered elsewhere. The domain registration without Private Registration is $18/year.

  Just a note – domain mapping allows you to map your domain to your WordPress.com site and this is needed for all custom domains that are pointing to WordPress.com.
