Domain mapping

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I just paid for custom domain mapping to my wordpress.com blog and it states

‘We checked the nameservers and it looks like they’re not pointing to WordPress.com yet. If you recently updated them please check again soon. It can take a few hours for registrars to complete update their nameservers.’

I have waited and tried again and still no luck.

Please can you advise what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Ross

What is the domain URL starting with http:// ?

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

As the instructions above – since your domain name does not seem to be registered here – YOU need to change the name servers at your Registrar, just mapping the domain name does no good

metalplayer.net – is that your domain

Thanks for the responses timethief and auxclass.

I have paid the $13 dollars after I followed the step by step on changing to a custom domain.

However, it has only been a matter of 4 hours or so since I entered the custom domain on wordpress.com – so will this mean that I just have to wait longer and see if works at a later date?
