domain mapping
-
I am trying to map an existing domain I already own from a different registrar. I went through the steps in the support document. I typed in my url “jasonfuhrman.com” then it said I was able to map it. But when I click the “map now” button, nothing happens.
Should be be doing something else before this step?
thanks

Should just start at the Map Domain from your Dashboard >> Store
You are following these instructions?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
What is the base blog you are trying to map your domain to? you need a valid blog to start (your-site.wordpress.com) mapping
In case you need more help I have flagged this for staff attention. They work the requests from oldest to newest

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry, I’m completely new to all this, but I think I figured out the solution.
First of all, I purchased hosting from hostgator and have my own domain. So, it appears I don’t need to “map” anything as I just install wordpress on my hosting account then log in from there.
I’m guessing the “mapping” is for people who are purchasing a premium account from wordpress and want to bring their domain over? Is that correct?

Hi there,
Mapping is indeed for folks who want to have their domain attached to a blog that is being hosted here. If you have a domain over at HostGator as well has a WordPress installation at HostGator then there is no need for mapping. You can just keep everything over there.
