domain mapping

  I’ve tried to map https://plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com to http://pl.steffenthiel.com. The CNAME is changed. If I want to pay with paypal an error occured. If I start with https://wordpress.com/domains/ the error is “An error occurred while processing your request.
  Reference #97.96c15fc3.1419870936.19b36474″. If I start with https://plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains&ref=store-wp-admin the error ist “DNS CNAME for pl.steffenthiel.com needs to point to plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com.”. I can’t understand this because I didn’t that the first time and never had such problems.

  Just to make sure we’re on the same page, you would like pl.steffenthiel.com to reflect the content on plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com. Is that correct?

  If so, you’ll need to follow the instructions listed here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/#instructions-for-mapping-subdomains

  That will explain how to setup the CNAME record, which is required for pl.steffenthiel.com to work correctly.

  Please let me know if I misunderstood!

  It’s right. pl.steffenthiel.com should be the polish version of my site like de.steffenthiel.com is the german and en.steffenthiel.com is the english. I know. the link above and I’ve done it with the both pages “en” and “de” without problems. The CNAME is changed to “plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com.” because the WordPress-domain is https://plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com. The problem is, that it should work correctly, but it don’t do that.

  Hi Steffen!

  Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the issue. I just tried to map pl.steffenthiel.com to your site plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com, and I didn’t seem to run into an issue. Are you having an issue with getting the CNAME setup correctly or purchasing the domain mapping upgrade at WordPress.com?

  The error occured as I’ve logged in to paypal and want to confirm the payment. The CNAME-settings by the provider don’t seem wrong.

  Thanks for clarifying! I went ahead and manually added the domain to your account. You should see it here:

  https://plsteffenthiel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

  Can you try changing the primary domain to pl.steffenthiel.com on that page and make sure everything is working correctly? Once we do that, I’ll send over a manual payment request form.
