Domain mapping
-
I purchased a new domain about 12 hours ago from wordpress and selected it as primary domain. However, when I try to load that web page it just comes up with an error or GoDaddy.Com – where the website name is no longer available to purchase?
The instructions on wordpress tell me to change the nameserver, but the nameserver option does not appear on the leftside of MyDomain.
It is very frustrating!

According to the whois record for thehungrycucumber.com it was purchased through GoDaddy, not WordPress.com’s domain registrar WildWestDomains. And unless your name is Jason, you are not that domain’s owner.
I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance. If you are not already, please subscribe to this thread so that you will see their reply. You can do so through the link in this forum thread’s sidebar.

Thank you for the quick response.
Unfortunately I am not Jason (although at this point I am willing to change my name :)) and since wordpress let us register it as our free domain, I thought it must be available too.
What can I do now? Is there any other possibilities as I have already paid the subscription with this domain.
Thanks again for your help. -
Since it is clear that you will not be able to register that specific custom domain thehungrycucumber.com (and I’m not sure how you were able to do so in the first place) you can certainly switch your primary site back to thehungrycucumber.wordpress.com in the meantime.
Then let’s wait until Staff reply. Being the weekend, it might take a little longer.

Thanks, I have switched back to the .wordpess.com address.
Looking forward to their response. -
I have a domain mapping issue too, it seems that n1.wordpress.com/n2.wordpress.com is not able to switch my domain at registrar df.eu to the settings of wordpress.com. Also my Exchange Onlienb config is also not handled by wordpress.com
I have screenshots of the entries, any suggests and how2 to upload screeshots at this thread?

@gycucumber – you bought Domain Mapping and confused that with domain registration – since the thehungrycucumber.com is not yours, you can go ahead and cancel the domain mapping and get a refund – then if you find a custom domain name you want in the future you can register the domain and buy the domain mapping again
@wpcomadminfv – please open your own thread to prevent confusion

Hi gycucumber,
I see you purchased a new custom domain hungrycucumber.com using the free domain credit in your Premium plan. I checked and made sure that domain is working on your site, so it’s look like you’re all set here. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
