I want to register my domain name to take out “wordpress” by paying the $17 upgrade.

In addition, I want to change the name of my site from 6sigmafc to 6sigmagroup. Is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once you map the domain name, it will not matter what the underlying wordpress.com URL is, and yes it would matter changing the underlying wordpress.com URL. Any search engine links to the old wordpress.com URL would then be broken, and any links to your site from other sites would also be broken and you would end up with a drop in traffic and would also end up loosing your search engine ranking. When you map a domain to an existing site here it is a 301 permanent redirect, and the search engines will pick that up and start transferring your ranking and correcting all links they have indexed to point to your new domain. If you change the underlying wordpress.com URL, then they will have nothing to redirect.
