domain mapping an existing domain
-
My blog is Interrupting the Silence at http://marshmk.wordpress.com. A few months ago I purchased from Hostcentric the domain, interruptingthesilence.com. I have read the support article regarding mapping an existing domain, http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/, and think this is what i need to do. As I understand it this will make my URL http://interruptingthesilence.com though people can still find the blog through http://marshmk.wordpress.com.
Does this domain mapping act as a registrar transfer? Will I renew the domain with wordpress.com and do they send me an expiration reminder or is this still through Hostcentric?
Thank you for your assistance, Mike

I second this query,
I have a registered and renewable domain name, sam-malone.com
and have been building a basic portfolio site thereBut I blog here on WP… what’s next for integrating the two?
Should I download the WP.org software? -
isamguy0, I am in the process of mapping the existing domain as described in support link referenced in my original post. WordPress support told me that they are not able at this time to accept transfers of domain names. So I will still renew my domain through Hostcentric and purchase the domain mapping upgrade through WordPress. That will allow me to stay on wordpress.com but the URL will be my purchased domain. Hope this helps. Mike
