Domain mapping and email

    Good afternoon,
I changed my domain name servers from bluehost to wordpress.com yesterday. I understand it may take time for this to populate, but the DNS checks seem to be coming up correctly. I did not realize this would impact my email as well – duh – and I have now entered an MX record for mail.mydomain.com. I am still not able to receive email.

    1. Do I need an A record as well? Or more than one MX record?
    2. I use Mail as my email program – do I use mail.mydomain.com or bluehost.com as my incoming and outgoing servers?

    Thanks, Monica

This is what I had to do when I moved my site for my email to still work at my old host.

    A mail 255.255.255.255
    MX 10 mail.my-domain.com.

You will need to make sure the proper arrangements are made at Bluehost for them to continue to act as your mail server. You will also need to get the correct information from Bluehost to replace my generic stuff. The above was entered at WordPress.COM.

I moved my domain name to wordpress yesterday, then went into emotional meltdown when I realised I could nt understand a single word of any of the explanations about sorting my e-mails. I just thought e-mail would carry on with the domain name host as usual.

I am registered under my usual domain e-mail address at gandi; if I do not write to them under my registered e-mail they will not reply and I have to give them written notice and send in ID before they will accept me having a new e-mail!!! I have tried contacting wordpress support and heard nothing

I really am in melt down here- I am amateur but thought I knew a bit about what I was doing; I have found wordpress to be simple and clear in every other way and there are tons of youtube videos I can easily understand BUT NOTHING ON THIS ISSUE!! I think wordpress should make the warnings much clearer

I havve absolutely NO CLUE what to do next. I have lost 2 important e-mail accounts as my lastest one was forwarding to my first one…………….they have noth vanished!!

Wish I could turn the clock back to yesterday and not have done this and I wish wordpress made it much clearer how tricky this is
