Domain Mapping and Email Address

  Yesterday I arranged with the Domain Registry of Canada to use my own domain name tla-temagami.org instead of the wordpress domain name tlacares.wordpress.com for my new website. It will be effective in 24 hrs.

  Today I will buy the Domain Mapping upgrade for $12/per domain per year. I would like to use the an email address that hosted with another service provider.

  Do I need to use Custom DNS Records to make my new domain compatible with other services not hosted on wordpress.com such as this email address.

  Or can I just add the email address to my new wordpress.com website under Settings>General>E-mail Address?

  You will need to use Custom DNS Records to get the email to work – your email service provider should give you the records you need to add here – each system is a bit different.

  You can also use Google Aps for a custom email also
