domain Mapping and renewal

  • Unknown's avatar

The first time i mapped my domain using my visa, i stated Uganda as my country since kenya did not appear and the drop list of countries, a few months ago, the mapping expired and although I had set it for automatic renewal, it did not renew and my .com blog went offline. I tried to renew again manually trying Uganda and Kenya as my country and still I could not get it mapped instead getting the error that my credit card was issued from an unsupported country, so, now the question, how do I map My blog? How do I pay for its mapping? I look forward to your help and reply and thank you in advance.

PS. please do not tell me to call my bank, I already did and they said that everything should be fine.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

PS. my domain is registered with godaddy where it is set on automatic renewal and where it always renew automatically so the problem is definitely not my bank or visa card.

  • Hi there!

Sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having. I went ahead and created a manual payment request for you here:

    https://manualpayments.wordpress.com/?u=8708ec6fd3

The total is $13 for the domain mapping upgrade.

Can you please take care of the payment and see if your credit card goes through? Thank you!

Thanks druesome for the help, is this just a one off solution or what happens next year? will the problem be fixed? also, I feel like my country and its people have been insulted in that you do not consider us as a source of revenue by not including us there. Sorry for the rant and I really appreciate the assistance.

Hi druesome, I just tried to do the payment and got this error: “There were problems with your payment. This credit card was issued from an unsupported country”.

  • Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear that the manual payment didn’t work as planned. Unfortunately, all our payments are coursed through Paypal, and the countries we support is dependent on their policies. For more on that, click here:

If it helps, you may contact Paypal’s support team and ask for further clarifications.

For the trouble, I’ve given you a free domain mapping upgrade for a year, free of charge. Your domain, kenyanvoice.com, should take effect immediately. Can you please check if things are in order?

    Thank you, and happy blogging!

Thanks druesome, the free mapping has worked. I appreciate that immensely. I am however hoping that, since I have raised the issue, you might consider giving people like us another way of paying if the one way you have does not work for all, don’t you think so? Again thank you for the prompt replies and all the help.

  • I would agree. We do offer alternative ways to pay for upgrades, such as Bitcoin.

A prepaid debit may also work to your advantage. You can search for “prepaid debit cards” on Google and purchase one online. As long as it has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it, you can use it on WordPress.com for your future purchases.

the free mapping has worked. I appreciate that immensely.

You’re welcome! Hope you enjoy it! :)
