domain mapping confusion

  I purchased the domain mapping upgrade today(7/10).While I understand that the whole thing can take 3 days to spread through the internet, I think I might have been confused about what domain mapping IS. I have a domain I own and I’d like it so that when people type that in, the get the blog I have on wordpress.com. I changed the nameservers and purchased the upgrade, thinking that this is what would happen. Instead, typing in the wordpress.com URL redirects to the domain index. What did I do wrong? Is what I’m really trying to do not possible? I’m simply trying to come from .org to .com.
