Domain Mapping Confusion

  Hello,

  I have a wordpress site. For a while, I was mapping a domain (soundsoftheenginehouse.com) – paying for this service on wordpress, and then paying somebody else to register the domain seemed daft. What I wanted to do was to simplify, and do everything through wordpress. So, I let the domain expire elsewhere, and bought the personal plan. I was expecting it to just let me use soundsoftheenginehouse.com but it won’t let me, because it’s telling me I already have it mapped. Help, please!!

  Hi there,

  soundsoftheenginehouse.com is still showing as registered with Tucowsdomains.com, which I assume is where you registered it previously.

  The problem is expired domains can take as long as three months before a registrar releases them for re-registration, and that’s if they don’t sell it privately before that time is over. You will need to wait for that process to complete, or ask Tucows if there is any way that they can release the domain earlier, but until it’s released you won’t be able to add it here.

  Thanks very much for your help. Makes sense! (I doubt they’ll sell it, it’s not a very useful domain for anybody except us!)

  I hope it gets released sooner rather than later so you can buy it again :)
