Domain Mapping, Design, etc.
-
I’m really confused as to how I’m supposed to be able to design my website. I purchased my domain through wordpress, and now I’m finding that I’m either not capable of moving it to a different host or that I just don’t know how to. I’m trying to design my website to look less like a blog and more like an actual website…and I can’t figure out how because it seems like I don’t have the capabilities and have to download wordpress (which was never clear to me as to why WordPress was a separate software program for creating a website). So now…what? How do I download wordpress and if I have to have an FTP or shell, am I going to have to fork out more money?
I’m so confused…all I want is just a clean and simple layout for my website and it seems I’m not able to do this without making additional package purchases through wordpress. Please help, WordPress is all Greek to me.
Thanks.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two separate entities:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you’d like to self-host your blog, which would give you FTP access, you can continue to use your custom domain name by updating your domain name servers to point to your new hosting provider:
