Domain Mapping Difficulty

    I have recently bought the domain thebutterflyrebellion.scot but WordPress will not accept the .scot new domain. Can this be amended?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Do you mean you tried to map your .scot domain to a site hosted by WordPress.com unsuccessfully because WP.com is not allowing you to map .scot?

    Chaitanyamsv – Yes, thank you. This is exactly what I mean.

  • I am fairly sure, you should be able to map your existing .scot domain to WordPress.com.

    Map an Existing Domain support doc says:

    Once you’ve updated your name servers, it can take some time for the change to take full effect (up to 72 hours, but normally much less). If you notice that you still see your old holding page or an error message when you load your domain, don’t panic. Give it a few hours, and then try clearing your browser cache.

    Presuming you did all this, I am afraid I won’t be able to assist further because I will never be able to know what exactly you are doing. Being a volunteer, neither do I have access to super powers WordPress.com staff are blessed with :-)

    I tagged this post for staff’s attention. They will respond as soon as they can. And rest assured, they are responsive and pretty friendly.

    Hi @thebutterflyrebellion,

    It doesn’t look like .scot domains are supported just yet at WordPress.com. It looks like you’ve setup thebutterflyrebellion.org though, and that’s working currently.

    Please let me know if you need anything else!

    @jeremeylduvall

    Thank you for getting back in touch with me. As we are a Scottish political blog it is important to us that we have the more ‘patriotic’ .scot domain as soon as can be made possible. Would you be able to find out if WordPress have a time scale where we might get to run with the .scot domain.

    – Very much appreciated.

    @thebutterflyrebellion – This actually should be supported soon! We’re in the process of synchronizing with new top-level domain extensions. I’ll update you as soon as I know more!

    @naduzic – I have refunded the $13 domain mapping charge back to your account. You should see the funds become available within the next few days!

    @thebutterflyrebellion – Can you give the .scot domain another try? It should work now if you try to map it to your blog!
