Domain mapping DNS troubles
-
Hello
I have registered a domain name on GoDaddy and mapped it and everything.
I did edit the DNS on the GoDaddy website to the NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and the other two.
Yet, I see no results!
Maybe I entered the fields wrong?
it says:Record Type: (NS)
Host:
Points to:What should I put in Host and Points to ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am seeing http://thejournalofamedstudent.com/ point correctly to your WordPress.com site.
It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency. If you are still not seeing the correct site appear after 48 hours has elapsed, please contact me again.
Also, do let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Hi there guys, I seem to be having the same problem. My NS record seems to be fine but my A record isn’t pointing to the right location and hence the webpage – bodhisattvaguitars.co.nz – isn’t loading.
The company that holds my domain says it’s something WordPress has to do at their end. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

According to the info I’m seeing, the bodhisattvaguitars.co.nz nameservers are not currently pointing to WordPress.com:
http://who.is/whois/bodhisattvaguitars.co.nz
I’m seeing them as being set to:
ns32a.ssggrp-wc.com
ns32b.ssggrp-wc.com
They need to be set to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Thanks for the reply! Is this something I need to change at my end or at the WordPress end? The other question would be how do I turn 2 fields (ns32a & ns32b into 3 fields NS1 2 & 3) or doesn’t it work like that? Sorry bit of a novice!

If your provider only shows two fields, you only need to enter in the first two name servers:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
Change the nameservers at your domain registrar, AND make sure that you have the domain mapped to your WordPress.com blog:

The entries ns32a.ssggrp-wc.com & ns32b.ssggrp-wc.com as mentioned above are not editable at my end from what I can tell. I think I might be wasting everyone’s time as I’m so unfamiliar with it all.
I’ll get back in touch with the domain people here and see what happens, then take it from there. Cheers for your time though and thanks for the tool, will help me describe the issue to the domain people a tad easier!

All sorted, they had pointed the wrong DNS files at my end, should be up in running in not time. Thanks again for the assistance.
