Domain Mapping Error

    Hi,

I have a blog at http://www.sonyaexplorekorea.wordpress.com which was previously mapped with http://www.sonyaexplorekorea.com domain when i was using the premium upgrades of wordpress.com. Since i wanted to customize the site i moved my blog to self-hosted. The day since i started the site on self-hosting i was facing both sites sometimes the site i had on wordpress.com which goes like ‘sonyaexplorekoera.wordpress.com’ and sometimes the site i have on self-hosting. i went into the store from my admin panel of wordpress.com hosted site and cancelled the domain mapping for my domain so that it only point to the self-hosted site. But it has been 5 days and still i some times see the domain mapping error with the site. i really dont understand the issue. please help me out so that i don’t loose my potential client. Looking forward for a positive response.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Umang Goyal

@raincoaster: Thanks for the response :) but i have read those instructions. After reading i removed the domain and transferred it to other registrar and hosting is from the same registrar as well. But for i had to keep the domain point to my wordpress.com blog while i get my site hosted and running properly on the self-hosting. Once it was all done i changed the DNS from wordpress.com to my hosting provider’s DNS. It worked like charm but the problem was sometimes i faced the wordpress.com hosted blog. so i looked at the problem and found that my domain mapping was working so i cancelled it. After that i started seeing the Domain Mapping error. it is still there sometimes for other users as well. I am not seeing the problem at my system neither my friends from India but users from other countries are facing this problem. Please help me out what should i do to get this issue fixed :(

    Thanks,
    Umang Goyal.

I am having the same problem, where I had canceled my domain mapping on my wordpress.com site and successfully redirected my domain to my new self-hosted site, on which I am also running WordPress. From time to time (every 20 to 30 minutes) I experience the same domain mapping error. I can’t find an explanation of this, either. Is it my ISP, my cache, or something else?

@katherinemccoy, Hi. In my case after getting into many search and asking a lot of forums i found nothing then when i was looking into the DNS entries of my Domain panel i found a few entries which were pointing to wordpress.com address so after deleting those entries my site went off for a few mins but after that i have not seen that error again. But i had those entries coz when i was moving and re-designing the site i forwarded my domain to my existing wordpress.com blog so that my visitors won’t see any down message or something. But i don’t know what is the cause in your case. I hope this would help.

    Thanks & Regards,

Thanks for your response, Umang. I’ve already combed through my DNS entries, and there’s nothing left that points to the wordpress.com blog. It’s bizarre. Luckily it’s been working fine all day today, so I’m hoping the issues may have been related to the DNS failing to resolve correctly. The weird part that I noticed last night when I tried to view my site over LTE on my phone (so not connected to my internet provider at home) was that I got a message from my domain registrar saying no forwards had been enabled. I sent them an email explaining the situation, so I’m hoping they might be able to provide an answer.
