Domain mapping error message
-
Hello,
Thanks for your email. I have been having issues with accessing my site. Each time I type into the browser I get the error message about domain mapping. I recently moved my domain to a self hosting platform but my site keeps rendering to the old ‘https’ page. I have cleared my cookies, cleared my cache, cleaned my devices and reset my router to no avail. Can you please resolve this issue?

Hi there,
It looks like your domains are still pointed to WordPress.com name servers. This is probably what is causing the issue you are seeing. As your domains are not registered here, you will need to log in to your domain registrar and point your name servers to your new hosting.
I hope this helps!

Hi,
I have already done that which is why I contacted you for support as I believe the problem may be on your end.

Hi there,
As Jackie mentioned, the domain’s Name Servers for http://asmeproductions.co.uk are still pointing to WordPress.com. As you no longer have an account with us you will see the domain mapping error you mentioned.
If you’d like to use this domain with your new host contact your registrar (enom) to point to your new host.
Your domain, asmeproductions.com is correctly pointing outside of WordPress.com.
You currently do not have any plan or domains on our end. All changes will need to be made at your registrar (where you bought the domains)

Thanks that is clearer and makes sense, so does this reply from one of your colleagues:
‘Hi there,
Do you mean that you’re getting a SSL certificate error if you try to load your site because it loads over http instead of https?
That is actually caused by your browser. When your site was with us we gave it SSL for free so it would load over https. We also set a header in your browser that tells it to always load that domain over https. There is no way to remove that header, but your browser should automatically clear it in a few days at which point you’ll stop seeing that warning.
I can load the http version of your domain without it redirecting the https or showing any errors, and so should most of your visitors as long as they’ve not recently visited your site while it was still mapped to us – if you look at your site in a different browser that you don’t usually use you also shouldn’t see the error.’
