Domain Mapping Expired

  • Unknown's avatar

Our domain mapping has expired and all there is is an endless loop when trying to renew it. I’ve done some research and it looks like the ONLY way to renew it is to use the account that originally added the domain mapping. However, there is NO WAY to determine which of the 7 accounts originally ordered it. I found a post that said you can cancel the domain mapping and then add it with the admin account you are logged in as, but I cant find anywhere to do that either. This is extremely frustrating as we are paying for a premium hosting account with WordPress and now our domain is down because i cant renew a $13 service!!! I called an 800 number and left a message, but there doesnt seem to be any tech support for paid customers. We need this resolved ASAP!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am having this exact same problem!!!

Found the solution to work around the email/link loop.

Log into your admin site (domain.com/wp-admin)
then click on Store – then select My Domains. Then select the Map A Domain You Already Own

    Good luck!

I tried that, but it didnt work. The domain was previously mapped, so when I try to do that I get “Sorry, mydomain.org is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog.”

I am able to make mydomain.org not the primary domain, but cant figure out how to delete it so I could then remap it like you suggested.

    Thanks for the reply.

It has now been 12 hours since we reported this problem, our web site is still down, and we have not heard from anyone at WordPress. This is not the level of customer service I expected to receive from WordPress when purchasing a Premium Subscription.

  • Unknown's avatar

It as now been 24 hours and still no response from WordPress. WordPress needs to significantly improve its technical support service to meet the needs of its business customers!

It has now been over 48 hours and no response from WordPress tech support. Through investigation, we were able to find out which account it was that renewed this last year. However, we still weren’t able to renew it. Apparently there is a ticketing system available to that account but not this account, so we submitted a ticket yesterday and they responded to it, pretty quickly I might add, and removed the Domain Mapping as requested. However, now the Add button doesn’t work when trying to re-add the Domain Mapping service so we are still dead in the water. Oh, and the best part is there is now a message in that user’s portal that says
    “Limited Support This Week
Private email and live chat support will be closed from Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 through Friday September 23rd, 2016, included. We will reopen private email support on Thursday, September 22nd, and live chat support will be back as usual on Monday, September 26th.

Why? Once a year, the WordPress.com Happiness Engineers and the rest of the WordPress.com family get together to work on improving our services, building new features, and learning how to better server you, our users. But never fear! If you need help in the meantime:
    – The forums remain open and staffed during this time.
    – If you require a refund, you can still request one directly from your Purchases screen.
    – If you are new to WorkPress.com we have a step-by-step guide to all things WordPress. You can find more details in our support documentation. There we have guides on getting started, writing your first post, and finding your readers.”

Well, I hope they read this forum post to “improve our services” and “learning how to better serve you” because I don’t feel I have been served at all during this period while my website has been down! Also, their comment that “The forums remain open and staffed during this time.” confuses me as I haven’t received any help from any staff for this forum posting.

    Very Frustrated!!!

    The error is now:

“This domain cannot currently be mapped.”

    There is no further explanation.

I’ve added the MODLOOK tag to notify Staff for assistance in this thread, as per the information in https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

As you pointed out, their reply will be somewhat delayed because of limited personnel availability.

  • @mochacenter

What is the domain you are trying to map? It’s impossible to check problems with a specific domain if you don’t provide the domain in your post.

I see in your account that you’ve previously paid for a domain mapping for the domain, mochacenter.org, but that domain is not currently mapped to any site on WordPress.com.

Once you confirm the domain I’d be happy to investigate further.

I am having the same (similar) issue with my domain mapping. The mapped domain is tredec.im, but there is no way for me to make the $13 payment.

    Help?!

    kokkieh,

Thank you for getting back to us!

Yes, the domain that we are trying to map is mochacenter.org. It was previously mapped, but we were unable to renew it. Through an internal investigation we determined that the service was renewed last year by jasonroberts99 above. However, even logged in as him, we were not able to renew the service. We opened a ticket using Jason’s account to have the domain mapping renewed so we could then re-add it. It was removed, but now the Add button doesn’t work in any of the browsers we have tried.

So in short, yes, we would like to map mochacenter.wordpress.com to mochacenter.org.

  • @mochacenter

It looks like the old mapping upgrade might be stuck in our system somewhere. I’ve submitted a request for a developer to manually remove that, at which point you should be able to add the mapping again. I’ll update you as soon as I hear back from them.

  • @slsweene

It looks like you’ve already been able to renew the mapping upgrade, but let me know if you need any more help with this.

Negative. It still says “the domain cannot be currently mapped” We have a temporary solution in place with our godaddy account to forward the URL.

I’m having the exact same problem. When/If you get a resolution, can you let me know what it is. I’ve managed to remap my domain, but now have no options for pointing the name servers back to where the website is hosed.

  • @jasonroberts99

You are the same person as @mochacenter, correct? My second reply was not directed at you, but at the other user who posted in this thread. That’s why I started my reply with their username, not yours. I know it’s still broken, and as I said above I’ve reported the issue and am waiting on a developer to get back to me.

  • @busbice

You do not have the exact same issue. If you have a domain mapping upgrade you cannot edit your name servers here. Those can only be edited at the registrar where you bought the domain. Please contact them for help making changes to your name servers.

If you need more help from us, please start your own thread instead of hijacking other users’ threads, and provide the domain you need help with so we actually know what to check.

  • Unknown's avatar

@kokkieh, wild wild west/wordpress.com IS THE REGISTRAR. When I call them, they tell me to contact wordpress. Do you see the circular logic within which my business has been held hostage?

I have started several threads, with no luck. I have business plan support with no responses. I have submitted several emails, with no response. I will post on every single thread until my issue gets resolved. This is MY BUSINESS that wordpress is ruining!!!
