Domain mapping / expiry

I have been using WordPress for about three years and I’ve had my own domain and paid £11 a year to have my domain mapped. Today, I looked at my blog and I was met by an error page saying my domain has expired even though I have it set up for recurring and I’ve never had an issue before.

When I logged onto my admin console, I was informed that my domain had expired in April (and I hadn’t been given an email or any warning) and now, the only option I have to get my domain mapped to my WordPress site is to upgrade and pay £7 a month (a one off payment of £84!) and no other option. Has something changed in WordPress and they’ve just not told me?

    It’s incredibly frustrating!

    Any advice would be appreciated!

Update: So, I changed the primary domain to my wordpress.com website (because I was worried people would fall down an error message black hole) and, now… for some reason the other domain is working now and is linking to the correct site? Help! Ha… I have no idea what’s happening. Thank you :)
