Domain Mapping for WordPress.org Site

I had been using a wordpress.com site and bought a domain name from GoDaddy and Domain Mapping from wordpress so that the “.wordpress” would not appear in the domain title. I just switched to a wordpress.org site and the domain still is with GoDaddy but I am hosting the site at Bluehost. I have no need for the address with “.wordpress” because I am only using the actual domain name. Do I still need to pay for wordpress domain mapping?

No you don’t need to pay for domain mapping anymore here – if you had some links to the un-mapped URL then you might consider the Domain Forwarding upgrade to send traffic to your new site if someone entered your-old-site.wordpress.com for an address
Else set your old site here to Private so search engines don’t stumble across it and dilute your brand
Make sure you turn off Auto Renew on any of your upgrades
